The two witnesses are given power to prophecy. They proclaim the testimony of Jesus to the world for a time times and half a time as recorded in the book of Daniel and others. This translates to 3 and 1/2 years. This 3 and 1/2 years corresponds with the first half of the 7 years great tribulation. This specific time set by The Lord G-D is when they have the specific authority to call down fire from Heaven to devour anyone who would try to harm them. They control the weather and punish peoples by earthquakes and hurricanes and floods and drought. The two witnesses have the ability and power to turn the waters into blood. They can send every kind of plague in the earth.
When the time of their testimony is finished, the beast coming up out of the abyss, The Red Dragon, will fight against them, overcome them, and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the streets while the sons of the rebellion have a worldwide party to celebrate the destruction of the two that tormented them. Their bodies will be raised up on a stake in the great city to reflect its spiritual condition as being like that of Sodom and Gomorrah.
For three- and one-half days the earthly bodies of the two witnesses will hang on a stake raised above the ground much like the body of Jesus of Nazareth was lifted up on the cross. For three- and one-half days the peoples of the nations tribes and languages across the globe celebrate and send each other gifts because these two witnesses of The Lord G-D tormented them so.
In other words, earth throws a party when the two witnesses are killed.
But this is not the end of their story…….
